A short love story

As the breeze blew strong along Mia’s hair, and the sunshine lightening up her beautiful face, it always brought a smile on her every morning she woke up. Without knowing what each day has in store for her, she was quite geared up each morning to face all the obstacles in store for her. She had everything in life, and was quite content with it, except that one small thing which seemed missing in her life. College seemed hectic, with friends coming up to her for relationship issues, or needing her help with assignments, or gathering around for lunch and munching over each ones lunch boxes, or just wanting to be with her and spend time with her. Life seemed just perfect, why would you need someone when you have such amazing friends by your side.

Things were going well, till she met someone, someone who she never imagined she would grow to be fond of someday, someone, who would become her best friend. Somebody who grew to love her, for the way she was. But she couldn’t believe that there could be someone who could fall in love with her, after all she was quite an ordinary girl, there was absolutely nothing special or no sex appeal or so about her. Mig was a very carefree kind of guy, who never took life so seriously, and was quite the same with each and every girl. So how exactly would she be the extra special one for him? However, she did not come to know when and how he became so special for her, but she knew it would never happen, as they both wanted very different things from life.

Not all love stories need to be complete and end on the note of marriage. Sometimes, love is in spending time with the person, love is wanting the happiness of the person you love, Love is compromising on things, Love is in being present for all the happy and sad moments in the time of need, love is helping out the person and getting them out of any problem, love is in feeding the person you love and feeling content when the person is full. Love is also in friendship, when you get to know a person more than any lover can ever get to know, sharing the small inside jokes and secrets which nobody else can know, being able to be with the person without having any awkward moments and not realizing the time when you spend with them.

So now I would like to ask, what is a true love story like? The one which fairy tales suggest, having a happily ever after ending? Or the one in which, you know, you may not end up marrying the person, but you cannot live without the person in your life for even a day, a minute, a second.

Breaking the Ice

So its the ALS Ice Bucket challenge here we are all talking about.

Let me first start with what ALS is.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

As motor neurons degenerate, they can no longer send impulses to the muscle fibers that normally result in muscle movement. Early symptoms of ALS often include increasing muscle weakness, especially involving the arms and legs, speech, swallowing or breathing. When muscles no longer receive the messages from the motor neurons that they require to function, the muscles begin to atrophy (become smaller). Limbs begin to look “thinner” as muscle tissue atrophies.A-myo-trophic comes from the Greek language. “A” means no or negative. “Myo” refers to muscle, and “Trophic” means nourishment–”No muscle nourishment.” When a muscle has no nourishment, it “atrophies” or wastes away. “Lateral” identifies the areas in a person’s spinal cord where portions of the nerve cells that signal and control the muscles are located. As this area degenerates it leads to scarring or hardening (“sclerosis”) in the region.

The reason the Ice bucket challenge was undertaken was to make people realize how it feels when your mind and body goes numb in seconds due to cold water being poured on you. I personally believe, if you really wish to bring a change, aim to work towards it. The ice bucket challenge though it is a great initiative is not the right way to go about this, as people are merely treating it as a game and an internet overnight sensation. I would not like to be a part of this simply because I have a feeling I would not be taken seriously on doing something like this, maybe I might just be seen as someone doing this to gain some fame. Well, each one is entitled to their opinions. Whats your take on this?

Check this out for more details, and don’t forget to make your donations before you decide to pour an ice water bucket on you, coz that is what in the end will truly help.

Breaking the Ice.

The World of Harry Potter

Seventeen years ago, I read a story on the boy who lived. A story which didn’t take long to captivate me into its magical world, and help me escape from the real world order, for all the time I have invested in it. My cousin was the one who introduced me to Harry Potter first, and I can’t thank her enough till date to give me a childhood memory I will cherish for life. Harry Potter, a character I have grown up with, felt like ive been through all the ups and downs which have taken place in the story, and made me have an unfulfilled dream to become a Hogwarts student someday.

Simultaneously along with the books, the movie series of Harry Potter also began, providing us a complete picturesque idea of how the magical world and its characters would truly look like. From the very beginning since Harry was born, till the very end of the series where Harry has grown into an adult, the book holds some amazing experiences along with it. I can call myself a proud 90’s kid today as I have grown up with Harry Potter. A story can be completely fictitious, but if it has reached your heart and soul, you know this is one unforgettable story you have read an experience of a lifetime. Living an entire decade with a character is not an easy task, but the wonderful author J.K. Rowling and the fantastic movie crew of Harry Potter made it happen. I cannot thank HP much for giving me something to cherish for life.

The Fault in our Stars

My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.

Its been a while since I have seen a movie which can touch my heart. The Fault in our Stars was a wonderful change from movies being just for pure entertainment, and a movie which will bring both a smile as well a tear in you eye. Having not read the book yet, I cannot compare it with the book as of now, but reading this book now is on top of my bucket list. I just wish the end would have been something like, they grow old together and survive through it all, but well that is not something which is likely to happen in this movie, as it is less likely to lead us to a fairy tale ending.

The Fault in Our Stars begins with two young teenagers, Hazel and Augustus (Gus) who have joined the support group, to overcome their medical problems and bring in some positivity in their lives. Battling Cancer on your own is tuft however is a must, but to know the person you are in love with is suffering through the pain you go through as well is quite heart breaking. Becoming friends and crushing on each other through a support group was just by chance, but going through a journey together from America to Amsterdam, to visit Hazels favourite author Peter Van Houten and sailing through the beautiful Amsterdam waters is where the beautiful emotion of love strikes between the two teen hearts.

The beauty, sensitivity, simplicity, and softness of the movie is what brings you to get involved in the movie, leaving you in tears as well probably when you encounter with the harsh reality of the movie.

Five amazing quotes from the movie:

1) “I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things.”

2) “Grief does not change you, Hazel. It reveals you.”

3) “Maybe ‘okay’ will be our ‘always”

4) “Some people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them,” I said.”Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”

5) “You realize that trying to keep your distance from me will not lessen my affection for you. All efforts to save me from you will fail.”

All in all, though it gets a little bit dragged in between, its a beautifully made film, and both the characters have done complete justice to their roles. This one is A MUST Watch for all those who believe in True Love, and for those who do not believe in love, to bring back that belief in them. ❤
